Las Vegas in late August was probably not one of my best ideas, but it’s a super fun city to explore for a quick getaway! I haven’t been back to Vegas for at least 5 years! Eugene and I are not big gamblers at all. We mainly go for the food, shopping, weather, and shows. Although, this time, we didn’t even make it to a show. We got tons of recommendations and had all the plans in the world to go, but it never worked out. Check out my Las Vegas tips below!

Hotel

This time we booked the  Bellagio.  Our room was on the 23rd floor and had a beautiful view of the strip and fountains. The room itself was clean but pretty basic, nothing special at all. However, our room lacked some simple amenities like a coffee machine. Of course, you could call the front desk and have them bring one up for $50. Bottled water in the room was $22 per bottle, and if you wanted hot drinking water to your room, they charged $15. Besides the outrageous costs, the hotel was overall stunning.

Vegas hotels are so vast that the amount of walking we did to get from our room to anywhere was extreme enough to count as small workouts! The Bellagio has a beautiful lobby that looks into the botanical gardens that they change out quarterly. The shopping at the Bellagio is strictly designer: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, etc. We didn’t try out any of the restaurants for dinner, but they had a lot to choose from.

The Bellagio is centrally located. On one side you have the VDARA, Aria, and the Cosmopolitan (a 3-minute walk and available via tram too). On the other side, the Bellagio sits right next to Caesars Palace. We ended up spending more time at Caesars because of both the forum shops and the dining options, which I preferred. In fact, the last time I stayed in Vegas, I stayed at Caesars and loved it. Across from the Bellagio is the Paris Hotel and Planet Hollywood, so you have an excellent view of the Eiffel Tower against the Bellagio fountains.

With this all being said, next time we go, I would rather stay at the Wynn, Aria, or Caesars.

Food

Food in Vegas is plentiful but can get pretty expensive. There are so many options for everyone’s taste palette. Here are some of our favorite spots:

Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel (perfect for lunch or dinner) – French

Catch at the Aria (dinner only, make reservations) – Asian

Mizumi at the Wynn (Forbes award winner) Sushi

Bavette’s at Park MGM(get the steak tartare) – Steakhouse

Carbone (Celebrity favorite, make reservations far in advance) – Italian

Things to do on the Strip

Eat a meal in the Eiffel Tower

Gondola Ride at the Venetian

Roller Coaster at New York, New York

See a show, O at the Bellagio comes highly recommended

Shopping Forum Shops at Caesars have the most variety (designer & none)

-Ride the Ferris wheel High Roller

-Stratosphere Sky Pod

Things to do outside of the Strip

Fremont Street

7 Magic Mountains (about 20 minutes from the strip)

Jean Dry Lake Bed (right next to 7 Magic Mountains)

Red Rock Canyon

Grand Canyon

Hoover Dam

Exotic Car Racing
