My Favorite Amazon Travelin’ Essentials

One of the things I love as much as traveling is shopping on Amazon. If you are not a Prime member, change that. It's literally the best. I order everything off of Amazon; from cookware, to dog treats, to beauty products, to groceries. We get packages on a daily basis! It is also one of my go-to sites for travel essentials, so I wanted to write up a quick post on my 10 must-have travel items that I've purchased off of Amazon!

Tumi Tegra Lite Extended Trip Packing Case

As we all know, the baggage handlers are never gentle with bags. Every time I travel, something happens to my suitcase. I’ve probably gone through at least 2-3 suitcases because of some damage. With all the traveling Eugene and I do, we finally decided to purchase a Tumi Tegra-Lite Suite case. They have fantastic reviews, functional products, and excellent quality. The Tegra-Lite collection is Tumi's most durable hard side suitcase but is also extremely lightweight—which is good for my overpacking self.

The suitcase is made up of Tegris plastic, which is a material used for lifesaving armor, NASCAR race cars and protective gear for NFL players…exactly what I need to hold my valuable Target dresses. 🙂 Jokes aside, we’ve had this suitcase for about five years now, traveling 5-6 times a year around the world, and it has held up perfectly! While I have a few surface scratches, the suitcase isn't dented, and everything still works and looks great. I love the fact that the hard top is basically unbreakable, and the bag is still incredibly light.

This Tumi has four wheels that all spin 365 degrees, the inside is roomy with two separate sections. There is also a TSA lock attached to the case, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing a separate one. I have an older model, but the newer models now have a high-impact x-brace handle system, which Tumi says is constructed from aircraft grade aluminum, eliminating damage to the handle system.

We purchased the Extended Trip size case, the 2nd largest suitcase they offer, but you can choose from seven different sizes. I also have the Tumi Tegra-Lite Carry-On that I love. Eugene has a Tumi carry on, but he prefers the soft top: Tumi Alpha 2 International Carry-On.

If you are looking for a new suitcase, don't look any further. The Tumi Tegra-Lite is one of the best on the market, extremely durable, lightweight and roomy. I can't recommend it enough. Yes, the bag is an investment right off the bat, but you will use this suitcase for many years, enjoying the benefits of the fantastic craftsmanship.

eBags Packing Cubes - 3pc Set

These packing cubes are essential for traveling. They are super functional, allowing me to organize belongings within my suitcase. I have two sets and depending on my trip length will use anywhere from 3-6 cubes at a time. I use the smallest cube for packing undergarments and socks. The medium usually holds my swimsuits and cover-ups, or pajamas, and the largest one holds my clothes. These cubes fit a ton of stuff! My favorite part about these cubes is that I'm able to unpack easily at my destination. I'll usually grab my cubes and put them in drawers, taking out only the pieces that need to be hung. They also come with a lifetime warranty, which is always a plus.

Camry Luggage Scale

Packing is one of my struggles when preparing for a trip. I have to outfit plan weeks before my actual trip to ensure that I don't overpack. This problem requires me to travel with a portable luggage scale. If you are like me, then you need the Camry Luggage Scale. It's easy to use and compact. I weigh my luggage before getting to the airport to ensure that I'm not over the allocated limit. This thing is extremely accurate and lightweight. There are some more expensive models out there, but we've had this one for two years, and it's worked well. In fact, we had a more costly portable scale in the past and had several issues with it. You can't beat the price at $9 bucks.

Travelmate Memory Foam Neck Pillow

I'm always amazed by people who can fall asleep anywhere because that's not me. I don't care if I'm flying 1 hour or 10 hours, I'm bringing my travel pillow. I need to be comfortable on a plane, and this pillow does the job! It’s lightweight, soft and comfortable. The memory foam supports my neck and head well. It's easy to travel with and easy to clean. You can just unzip the plush velour cover and throw it in the washer. No need to spend $20-$40, this pillow is under $13 and does the job!

Portable Travel Charger

Although most planes now come with USB charging outlets, some still do not. I always make sure to pack my portable travel charger just in case. It's perfect for anytime you need to charge, and not just while flying or traveling. I use this charger all the time! This thing is pocket-sized, fitting perfectly in any bag. I can get two charges out of it for my iPhoneX. It has a USB and micro USB attachment. It also has a handy flashlight and doesn't cost an arm and a leg!

Bose QuietComfort 20 Noise Cancelling Headphones

I'm obsessed with my Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones. I use these on a regular basis, but they are even more important while I'm traveling. I love how compact these are and they weigh practically nothing. I decided to get the in-ear Bose headphones, versus the over the head ones because they are smaller and work just as well. I also feel more comfortable with these on the plane. Noise-canceling headphones are a game changer for flying and traveling. I even use these when I’m running on my treadmill, so I don’t have to hear myself panting for air. The Bose are top rated and worth the investment. I love them so much I got both Eugene and my dad a pair. They both thought I was crazy for spending this much but are now sold. Eugene had another pair of noise-canceling headphones that were a bit cheaper, and he was shocked at how much better the sound quality is on the Bose.

Raines by Totes Automatic Compact Umbrella

I purchased this little umbrella for a trip back in 2016, but I find myself using it all the time. It's super tiny and great quality. Not flimsy at all, like some of the other umbrellas I've had. It fits in my purse, or backpack easily. I always pack this little guy just in case it rains on our trip. It doesn't take up much room and weighs only 10 ounces.

Kopack Backpack

Eugene purchased this travel backpack this past year for our trip to Europe and Iceland. It's small and lightweight, but what I like most about it is that it's water resistant and includes an anti-theft zipper that can resist knife stabs. We've taken it on several trips now and have found the bag to be comfortable even if it's worn throughout the day. There are several compartments that keep all of our electronics and valuables organized. Highly recommended!

Tumi Monaco Travel Kit

If you can't tell, I like being organized while traveling. Everything has a place in my suitcase, and the Tumi Travel Kit is the perfect way to keep makeup and toiletry essentials organized. I love how I can really stuff this thing, roll it up, zip it up and it fits in the small nooks of my suitcase. Once I get to my destination, I hang this in the bathroom, so I don't have to cramp up the counter space and bathroom. As with all Tumi items, this piece is great quality and very durable. I've had mine for about five years now.

CHI Air Classic Travel Hairstyling Set

I have super long hair, so when I travel, I have to bring all 3 of my styling tools with to keep it looking normal. My suitcase used to be stuffed with a full-size blow dryer, straightener, and a hair curler. I refuse to leave these guys at home -especially my blow dryer- hotel blow dryers usually don't work well for my hair, leaving it frizzy, or taking forever to blow dry my head completely. A few years ago I was looking for a travel kit and purchased the CHI Air kit. My set is a few years old and includes three separate pieces: curler, straightener and a  blow dryer, but I LOVE that they rolled the straightener and the curler together. Genius!

The tools are strong! Specifically the blow dryer, it doesn't leave my hair frizzy, and I can dry my entire head in about 15 minutes (that is fast trust me). The straightener is perfectly sized, and the curler gives me beautiful loose curls, that last. I tend to reach for this curler at home for a quick style as well. I used the set in Europe with a travel adapter with no problems. Save yourself some suitcase room on your next trip and get this set. You won’t regret it.

Hope you guys find as much value in these travel essentials, as I do! Comment below if you have any questions, or on what some of your favorite travel necessities are.

Thanks!

  1. After reading this I purchased 2 sets of the packing cubes and I’m OBSESSED. Even if we’re going away for a night I still use them for Izzy and I! Thank you, thank you for the recommendation!
